Irritable bowel syndrome is diagnosed when diarrhea or chronic constipation, abdominal cramps, bloating and other indigestion persist for months without conventional medicine finding a cause. The drugs prescribed thereafter are correspondingly unsatisfactory, while sufferers struggle with the discomfort on a daily basis. Our reader Frank L. from Mülheim a. d. Ruhr reports on his experiences with irritable bowel syndrome and how he was able to bring it to a standstill himself.
Irritable bowel syndrome: An experience report
In Germany, one in six currently suffer from chronic indigestion that fits the image of irritable bowel syndrome, equivalent to 14 million people, or over 16 percent of the population. Conventional medicine generally finds no cause, diagnoses psychosomatic events and then, for the most part, therapies symptomatically.
Information on the causes of irritable bowel syndrome and the appropriate holistic measures can be found in our main article on the irritable bowel.
Our reader Frank L. (name changed by the FVH editorial team) from Mülheim a. Namely, Ruhr reports on his experiences with irritable bowel syndrome and how he was able to fix it within a few months with a change in his diet. We would like to thank Frank L. for his report of experience and are very pleased that he was able to help himself and that he is doing so well by now!
For 30 years I suffered from irritable bowel syndrome
Dear FVH team, I would like to send you my experience report on the subject of irritable intestine and thus give hope and courage to other affected people, because a relief of the complaints is often in my own hands.
For nearly 30 years – from the age of 15 to about 43 – I suffered from the irritable bowel syndrome. It started with a drinking yoghurt, which I drank at school at the big break. After leaving school, I didn’t even make it home and had to ease myself with strong bowel cramps on my way home in the bushes.
Daily diarrhoea and severe cramps
I went through the usual and certainly known to many sufferers history: Daily 3 to 5 times bowel movements, very often fluid and dependent on the current stress situation, about 1 to 4 times a month with very painful cramps.
I can only confirm the “feeling of incomplete emptying ” described in the article. Just how strongly this bowel movement compulsion affected my life can only be imagined by people who live through it themselves. In the event of the intestinal cramps MUSSTE I ease myself within about 15 minutes! A delay was absolutely not possible!
No doctor could help!
No doctor could help me! Stomach/intestinal reflections yielded no result. Even the naturopath brought only a marginal improvement with his diagnosis “cow’s milk intolerance .” In the end, I had come to terms with my irritable bowel until, by chance, I was able to eliminate the problem:
About 4 years ago, after a long time, I met my sister-in-law again. Their charisma had changed extremely positively in time! The reason for their positive change? She had radically changed her diet! She gave me books to read and I started emulating her. I made nutrition my hobby and devoured tons of books, posts on this page and watched umpteen lectures on the subject. My only goal: I also want this charisma!
My Green Smoothie Diet
I made a radical “Green smoothie diet ” and lost almost 20 kg weight in about 6 months! Originally I had weighed at 190 cm 93 kg. Now I weighed 74 kg. I didn’t care about the weight. I just wanted to feed “species appropriate ” and get out of permanent inertia.
Through my self-study in nutrition, I supplemented the green smoothies more and more with other foods. Prefers organic, raw food and as natural and unprocessed as possible. My ideal image is as follows:
- Flexitarian (little meat and then organic),
- 90% raw food,
- 100% organic,
- If possible, no fast food or finished products,
- As few wheat products as possible
- As few dairy products as possible (milk in its present form is no “LEBENS agent ” anymore …),
- Permanent supplementation of selected dietary supplements (vitamin D, B12, magnesium, calcium, zinc)
- My irritable bowel is completely gone
- The effects of this radical weight loss while at the same time adding natural vital substances from green smoothies are incredible: My irritable bowel had completely disappeared after about 3 to 4 months!
I’ve been living this new diet for 4 years. In that time, I only once had a hint of pain. The irritable bowel is just gone! It was never my goal to eliminate my irritable bowel through this “smoothie diet .” I hadn’t even thought about this one and put up with it. I just wanted to achieve as vital a charisma as I had experienced with my sister-in-law. The irritable intestine has simply disappeared as a “side effect”:-)
Other effects: Free colds and no more glasses
In addition to the hoped-for radiance, other positive effects of my new diet and lifestyle include better performance and almost complete cold and flu freedom. I also don’t need glasses anymore. I wore glasses with about 1.0 dioptrin (myopia) since I was 20 years old. I wore the bille all day, so permanently. Since the changeover, I don’t wear the glasses at all!
I explain these wonderful effects with the radical detoxification of my body through the “diet” and the simultaneous replenishment of vital nutrients through my new healthy and “species-appropriate diet .”
Optimization of vitamin D supply: Sun allergy is gone
In addition, during my self-study I also stumbled upon vitamin D and integrated it into my diet (with careful guidance and regular tests). So I don’t know if it happened through radical diet conversion or vitamin D. Anyway, the fact is: My sun allergy, which has been around for almost 30 years, has also completely disappeared!
Irritant bowel stays away – despite relapse into old eating habits
Meanwhile, my weight has levelled off to a healthy 84 kg. Even though I have been feeding for comfort for a few months, unfortunately, for the most part “normal ” (only about 20 percent according to my ideal image), many of the learned eating habits as well as the friction bowel freedom have remained. However, at the latest when the irritable bowel comes back, I will definitely return stronger to the eating habits described above! I never want to suffer the way I used to!
No understanding of fellow human beings
When I point out to friends, work colleagues or acquaintances on the “wrong ” diet, it almost always comes back:
“nonsense, we cook a lot ourselves and fast food we hardly eat … “
“If milk, wheat & co were so bad for us, then the doctors, the government or whoever would point it out to us! “
“The illnesses I have, my parents already had. This is genetic, I can’t do anything anyway … “
People just don’t understand that behind our Western diet is just lobbying, profit-making and optimization (faster, cheaper, longer lasting)! Nobody thinks about human health.
Quick solutions are needed – without having to change themselves
Which adds to this in addition to the whole nutritional discount: Explain to someone who is in acute pain due to one of the diseases of civilization: ” Or in 2 to 3 years, the pain and your illness are gone … “
We are so spoiled by quick fixes today that no one is willing to wait so long for success. Much rather you swallow pills from the doctor (with all the side effects …).
If you really want to be healthy, you should get up and make the changes!
Even though I know that my experience does not fit every irritable bowel syndrome, I now firmly believe that our “Western-civilized ” food culture is the main trigger for this (and many other) disease (s). And it is only through an intensive study of our diet, combined with a strong shift towards as untreated, species-appropriate, organic food as possible, that this curse can be eliminated.
I can’t say to this day what was ultimately the exact trigger for my irritable bowel. Personally, I am now firmly convinced that there were simply too many “empty calories” with too many “concomitants” negative for the human body, while at the same time supplying them with vitamins, trace elements, etc., vital to the cells.
My path described above has not always been easy. But if you REALLY want to get rid of your irritable bowel, you should step up to it and undergo such a change (preferably accompanied by a medical medicine practitioner/nutritionist)! It’s really worth it!
